Mature People and Work

It is good news! People in the UK live longer, healthier lives than ever before. As 50+ there may be thirty or more years to look forward to. Not everyone looks forward or plans for the future. Work / Life balance takes on a different meaning when work options are limited. What ever their employment situation, most people will need to take stock of their situation at sometime in “extended middle age”. This is especially true of those faced with redundancy or retirement.

The plans and choices that older people make are unlikely to be the same as those made by people in their twenties and thirties. While everyone needs guidance, the older people may need more support and assistance than others. Therefore they need guidance and advice which is tailored to their experience, and recognises both the advantages and disadvantages that this brings
